Individual trees of this pine are known to be over 4,000 years old, with some estimated at 7,100; thus, they are the oldest living things on earth. Only grows 3-6" a year and after many years can reach a height of 20'.
Pinus aristata is a medium-size tree, reaching 2–6 m (8–20 ft) high and 3–4.5 m (10–15 ft) wide. Mature trunk diameter is highly variable. The bark is grey-brown, thin and scaly at the base of the trunk.
